Urban regeneration project

Year
2024 - in progress

Location
Pontedera (PI)

Crastan Center

The renovation of the former Crastan building is an urban regeneration project that breathes new life into a historic site, transforming it into a contemporary multifunctional hub. The project includes a commercial space on the ground floor for a medium-sized retail outlet, while the first and second floors house offices and executive suites, ensuring continuous use of the building throughout the day.

The original structure has been preserved on the upper floors, maintaining the historic silhouette, while on the ground floor, a new contemporary volume expands the retail space without altering the perception of the existing building. The dialogue between old and new thus becomes one of the fundamental elements of the project.

A new stairwell with elevator, created and raised in the central volume, ensures accessibility and takes on an important architectural role. The glass facades and reflective metal wall define a recognizable urban landmark, which extends into a projecting canopy, reinforcing the relationship between the building and public space.
